Polymer, Textile & Fiber Engineering Program Spotlight

The School of Polymer, Textile & Fiber Engineering at Georgia Tech has a proud history. It was the third engineering school established at Georgia Tech in 1897. Today its focus has expanded to include the entire polymer-fiber-textile-fabricated products (PFTFP)complex. It is one of the most vibrant Textile Engineering programs in the United States, currently enrolling 45 M.S. & Ph.D. students. The School has 14 full-time faculty members specializing in all facets of polymer, textile and fiber engineering.

Students holding an undergraduate degree in any one of several fields of science or engineering may qualify for admission. A textile-specific undergraduate degree is not a requirement for admission. Each student pursues an individually structured program.

The programs are designed to prepare M.S. and Ph.D. engineers and scientists for modern careers in polymer science, research and quality control, and textile product and process development. Graduates also participate in the design, development and manufacturing of a broad range of fiber-based and polymer-based products and systems. It is designed to appeal to students with backgrounds in Science and Engineering.
